An Area Rich in Natural Attractions!
Less than two hours by car from San José, our Bed and Breakfast
is a place to enjoy the wonderful natural beauty of this area.
Here are some of the most attractive places to visit nearby.
La Selva Biological Station
(5 minutes from the lodge)
is a facility known worldwide for scientific research and conservation.
The Station offers everything from rainforest walks to a graduate
education program. We can also start with a visit to our nearby
Wildlife Reserve & Rescue Center.
The
Sarapiquí River: In the upper part of the river there is
fast water for rafting and kayaking, as well as ideal conditions
for nature walks and bird-watching.
Down river it gets deeper, so there are boats for lazy trips
down the river while watching wildlife such as crocodiles,
green caimans, iguanas, monkeys, sloths and birds.
Bird watching is a most highly recommended reason to visit us
and we do know the area very well.
In the Caribbean lowlands, you can find over half of all the species
of birds in Costa Rica, which in turn has more birds than all of
the United States and Canada put together!
We will help you find as many of the 460 species of birds in our area
as we can. Some, you will only see here.
We may even see the rarest birds like the
Great Green Macaw.

A family of our acquaintance have a new guest cabin near
La Colonia Virgen del Socorro, a few miles from here.
The cabin is on a farm in the middle of the woods
and is a beautiful place to stay for a few days
to observe nature, especially the wonderful birds.
