Our new guide, Kevin Martinez, out in the field.

There are two ways to get from San José to our place. First is the "Old Road" which passes through the Poás Volcano area and the waterfalls. This road was built during the Second World War, to penetrate the jungle for the purpose of harvesting the Quina or Quinine plant for the treatment of malaria. We are half a kilometer west of town on the road to La Virgen.

The second road is via the highway which leads to the Caribbean coast. This is a faster way to get to the Saraqiquí through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, and takes approximately an hour and a half to get to our place. You turn off the road to the Caribbean near Guápiles and head for Sarapiquí.

Click here for a map of the Province of Heredia, or here for Costa Rica. Take a taxi. Or, if you arrange one of our guided tours, we can pick you up at your San José hotel, or direct from the Juan Santamaria International Airport.
