The number of different birds we saw during the 5 days we were with you totaled over 89,
which is amazing especially for August. We will recommend you without hesitation to anyone coming to Costa Rica.

I ended up with 95 bird species.
I got the Cinnamon Hummingbird and a Yellow Warbler at the last hotel.
It was a blast birding with you.
All together, I saw about 130 species, most new to me.
Not bad considering all the other things we did like rafting and the zip line!

This is a great place to stay, but we really wanted to stress
the extra value that owner Alexander Martinez can provide.
First of all, upon request, the Martinez' will cook dinner
for guests. And we can attest that the home-cooked
organic vegetarian dinner we had at Andrea Christina
was the best meal we had in Costa Rica in our entire 5 months.
Worth visiting for this alone. Second, Alexander is a great host,
and the best tour guide we met in Costa Rica.
We spent four weeks with him in total, and we can't say enough
good about him.
He was very friendly, highly knowledgeable, and great with the kids.
As a leading member of environmental groups, part-time ranger,
and part-time lecturer, he had a wealth of knowledge about the flora,
fauna and culture of Costa Rica.
An avid birder, he hooked our 9-year-old on bird-watching,
a passion that he has carried back to Canada.
(Our youngest plans to return to Costa Rica "in ten years"
to visit with his new friend Alexander.)
Alexander speaks English fluently,
knows all the best inexpensive places to eat,
and is the safest driver we know of in Costa Rica.
Anyone who wants a special experience in Costa Rica should contact him.

We had a great time in Costa Rica, we love it there!
